FROM FRAN

Posted in Testimonial-CLD on 20.01.10

No wonder the dogs at your place are always so happy, you’re like doggy god!  I did what you said with Bentley a couple times over the weekend and left him out of his crate today while I went to work, and he behaved himself I think even more than I expected… I don’t think either one of them even got on the couch because the blanket I put on it wasn’t moved at all!  I’m very impressed
Thanks for the help Sue!

Fran, Buddy & Bentley
NOTE: told Fran to use the Good Dog Collar and a 6′ leash and tie Bentley to her so he has to follow her around when he started eating the couch cuz she stopped letting them on the couch cuz she was buying a new couch (as an aside – A NEW COUCH!! I CAN’T IMAGINE HAVING ONE OF THOSE!) ;-) )

DELILAH – Now GEORGIA – ADOPTED

Posted in Testimonial-CLD on 19.01.10

Hi Sue,

Just a quick email to say we had a great weekend with Delilah, who is now named Georgia. I don’t think her tail has stopped wagging since we brought her home.

We walked her before we even took her in our house so that she didn’t come inside with lots of energy. Once inside, she explored and paced a bit, and smelled a lot, but settled down within an hour or so.

She got lots of attention from us this weekend with playing in the backyard, numerous walks and two jogs. She pulled a lot on the first walks but is already better and my jog with her this morning was almost pleasant. She happily slept in her dog bed throughout the day yesterday – I think she was tired from all the fresh air she got.

It’s wonderful that she has so much experience with other dogs. She’s been perfect when saying hi to other neighbourhood dogs. My only complaint is the pulling she does to get to them because she just can’t wait to say hi. We’ll work on that.

Inside, she’s a very polite dog and has amazing manners – no begging when we eat, no barking when there is a knock at the door, listening to us when we ask her to sit, sitting quietly at the front door when we put on her collar, etc etc.  The kids are being really great at being consistent with her with our house rules – I think they know doing so will make it easier for all of us (Georgia included) in the long run.   We still have a ways to go in some areas (staying seems to be a new concept – she just wants to be where ever we are all the time) but we’ll get there. We had two visitors who she was very excited to see and she let them rub her belly within about one minute of meeting them. Not sure how much of a watch dog she’ll end up being, but we’re ok with that.

As a start, it’s been really great. Fitting her in to our regular weekly schedule will probably take a bit of getting used to. She went for a very early morning run with me, then a good walk with Julia 90 minutes later, so hopefully she was able to use up enough energy to get her to 3:30 when the kids will be home.

We’ll send you another update soon and find a time to come and say hi to you in person in the next little while.

You said the first 24 hours would be hard. It’s actually been a pleasure. Because it’s been such a good start, we feel that she was the absolutely right dog for us to choose and bring into our family.  Thanks again for your patience with me while I made this decision.

Kind regards,
Catherine

MAGICAL MISTY – ADOPTED!

Posted in Testimonial-CLD on 19.01.10

Susan,

I cannot thank you enough for taking in such a lovely dog and keeping her that way. And for all your training with us as well. We are so excited about this RAW diet. My face has been in Misty’s fur, I have pet and pet her and not had to wash my hands right after, and I have not had to blow my noise once, itch my eye, scratch my irritated skin, even after she licks me. It is a miracle. It is natural. And we will never go back.

She was quite curious with our rats. Probably too curious, but you would be so proud of me. When she first decided to take a closer snap.. I mean look at them, I made that loud grunting noise you make and she backed right off. I completely surprised myself with it, and I sounded just like you. She tried once again a minute later, made the noise, and she has not gone back since. I even have Greg making it now.

She was not too keen to go to her crate last night, but I am hoping it’s because it is new for her and she will get used to it. And she had a lovely meal this morning. Maybe Greg has updated you with this already, so sorry if it’s repetition. But thank you again for everything and I will follow this e-mail with information on the Wellness Fair. I really hope you can join us.

Alexis

WYATT – ADOPTED

Posted in Testimonial-CLD on 19.01.10

Oh my god he has settled in so quick!! I just wanted you to know, because I saw you getting misty eyed….  his tail hasn’t stopped wagging even when he got a good swipe from the kitty (they arent too happy, but they will get over it)

Do you have a rabies tag for him, or do I just take the papers in when I take him for a bath?  and don’t you dare tell me to do it myself, you have seen the size of him and I will not take him in the shower with me!!  I don’t think there would be enough room  LOL

Thank you for coming into my life and bringing Wyatt!
Barb

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE

Posted in News on 04.01.10

2010. Already. What a fast passing year 2009 was and the last 2 weeks of holidays passed all too quickly too.

We’ve had a great year for adoptions, food and wellness and we hope to grow more especially thru referals.

We’ve finally also figured out how to keep track of adoptions, how many each month. Dec/09 was 11 and that’s pretty good considering i don’t adopt out ‘gift’ or ’surprise’ dogs during december.

So far, 3 this month and it’s only the 3rd!

Home For The Holidays Foster Program was terrific! We had 5 dogs fostered out and 2 were adopted (that was not the intent but it’s a good thing and the dogs were more or less picked by the fosters who were looking for a 2nd dog) and one more likely will be.  The other two, Andy and Chaz were adopted this weekend BECAUSE of the HFTH program. Their Bio’s were updated re what they were like in homes and candid, ‘family’ shots added  to their site as well.

When people came to meet the dogs the fosters graciously came too and talked about their experience with the dog, their likes and dislikes, the funny and naughty things they did. Made it more personal and gave life to the dog’s stories.

I’m really glad we participated in the progam and definitely will next year again – hopefully more of you will take part too.

OUR SPECIAL STORY

Posted in Testimonial-CLD, Testimonial-LMD on 04.01.10

OUR SPECIAL STORY.

In the summer we lost our precious dog Mandy of Cancer and we were very depressed as was our 15 year old Cockapoo, Sara.

Sara had gained weight to about 27 lbs, had no energy, was sleeping all the time and really had aged.

After searching Pet Finder we adopted a dog through Susan Steiner at Camp Lots of Dogs in Myrtle, Ontario.

Susan met Sara when we went to pickup Molly our adopted beagle and she said that Sara would have to lose weight and raw diet was the way to go, as Sara was originally taking Eukenebia dog food.

We put Molly and Sara on a raw diet and also Sara had bad Arthritis so we got Dr Clarke’s Healthy Hips from Susan, as she had very shaky back legs from the Arthritis.

In about 4 weeks Sara went from 27 lbs down to just over 20 lbs, her shaking was reduced about 90% and she has so much energy she runs is more alert and happy and gained about 5 years on her life.

Molly our adopted dog remains at her current weight (20 lbs)  and is so happy to have found a home and we love her so much.

We strongly recommend adopting a pet through Susan Steiner and the raw food that she makes herself. She is very knowledgable on all types of ailments for dogs and is very loving and caring about her dogs and their placement and there is no where else we would go for advise or adoption in the future or for nutrition advise.  We continue to buy our dog  food through Susan Steiner.

Thank you Sue  for all your help and support,   we are so happy with both our dogs.

Donna and Allen Kozlov

Whitby, Ontario.
