MEDIA RELEASE: Hike for Camp LotsaDogs Rescue

Posted in News on 26.02.10

Join us on Saturday May 15, 2010 at 9 am, and help support a wonderful cause. Get fit and enjoy nature on this breathtaking 8K hike through the Rouge Valley.

This event will benefit “Camp LotsaDogs” a non-profit organization based in Whitby, Ontario. For only a $25 participation fee, hikers can help this organization to provide a second chance at life for these amazing animals.

As well as raising funds, our goal is to also promote environmental awareness. Just a few small things can make a real difference.

We will be asking that participants help protect the environment by picking up any garbage along the trail, and please remember to pick up any poop your dogs leaves behind. Water will be provided along the route however, in an effort to reduce waste, we ask that participants bring their own refillable water bottles.

It would also be greatly appreciated if participants could arrange a carpool to the hike.

Get your friends to join you and your four legged companions for a day of fitness and fun. Enjoy in the knowledge that we are making a difference. Those who cannot participate physically can still act as a sponsor or volunteer. If you don’t have a dog you can walk one of the rescues!!

Camp LotsaDogs used to do boarding and daycare but turned to rescuing instead. It is much more rewarding to save the lives of these helpless animals that have been dumped, abandoned or left to starve. They rescue dogs from “High Kill” shelters and shelters with low adoption rates for less popular breeds from the United States and bring them across the boarder to a safe place. Here they can start the healing process.

They work with these animals who, do to circumstances some are left with behaviour, emotional and physical problems. These can be over come with the knowledge and experience that this organization has.

They are extremely successful in placing dogs in forever homes and with this event we hope to help save even more lives.

They do everything they can to assist the rescued dogs in finding good, solid, happy homes. Because of the dog camp boarding experience they are uniquely able to spot and fix behavior problems, emotional problems and adjustment problems as they have sources and resources to help these dogs. If you adopt they are always there to help along the way in any form they can. The ultimate goal is to place all these fantastic dogs into a forever home. A lot of these animals need to be fixed and some have medical issues that need to be corrected, so the more money we raise the more lives we can save.
